Awesome Stories: This is a fun website that you can find the history of all different major events in world history. Each event has its own page that delivers a good narrative of the event, but the best part of the site is the links throughout each article that the user can click on. When these links are clicked, pictures, maps, speeches, etc, will all pop up, adding a great deal to the article.

Brainpop : Username: higginshawks  Password: soar... Another video website, this one offers short cartoons that are great at giving you the basic information for many aspects of history and social studies. A fun way to catch up on some history that you have never heard about in class.

CIA: World Fact Book: An excellent resource for projects. On this website, you can call up any country in the world and find information about all aspects of that country. Information included is Geography, Economy, Government, Military, and so much more!

Geography.com: This website has links to many very well-known sites that include country information, maps, and games. A cool part of the site is the "Ask a Geographer" section in which you can e-mail your questions to specified experts who deal with a variety of different topics.

Geography Map Games: A great website that has a variety of different map games to help you learn your country, city, and landform locations in the world. This would be a top notch study tool when preparing for final unit tests!

Google Maps: A website that I know everyone has played with at one time or another. This is a top notch site that allows the user to navigate and explore the world that we live in. It is highly recommended to explore Google Maps for many of the world's most famous landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, Pyramids of Egypt, or Great Wall of China.

Info Please:  This website offers the user any bit of geographical knowledge that they could possible seek. It has charts of major world landforms, maps, quizzes, and country profiles. There are charts that show the top mountains in order of height, lakes in order of size, rivers in order of length. There are also sections of the page that you can access by specific country in the world. A great tool, especially for country projects.


J. Henry Higgins Homepage: This site is your school's homepage that includes school news, calenders, lunch menu, and school policies. It is also possible to e-mail all of your teachers to ask questions about assignments or material.

National Geographic: Perhaps one of the world's most well-known magazine, now translates into one of the world's most well-known websites. The National Geographic website offers its users anything that you could want as a student of Geography. Top notch maps, articles, and pictures are just a small view into what this site has to offer. The pictures alone are worth the trip to the site!

Sporcle.com Geography Quizzes: This website offers a fun study tool for World Geography. It is a series of online quizzes that deal with all aspects of the world we live in. You can find quizzes such as naming all of the countries on the African continent, Landforms of the world ,or naming the flags of the countries.

Unitedstreaming.com : Username: raponi29  Password: marlins... This is a fantastic website that allows you to go on and find videos for all aspects of our Social Studies class. All types of videos are available for each of the different regions and continents that we will be discussing this year. You can find videos dealing with landforms, animals, economies, and cultures of the world.

U.S. Census Fact Finder: This website has unlimited pieces of information about the country that you live in. This is a website created by the federal government and includes all statistics about our population, occupations, and population density. A cool feature of the site is the fact sheet where it gives many of the major statistics of our country, which include averages and percentages.

World Atlas: In Social Studies this year, we are going to using a hundred different maps, and this website will be quite valuable to you if you should happen to need a map for a project, studying, or replacing one that you may have lost. This website offers many different kinds of maps for each of the regions we are going to discuss this year. It is very easy to find blank maps, political maps, physical maps, time zone maps, population maps, as well as dozens of others. An excellent website for mini-cartographers!
